For those not familiar with the Oedipus complex, it is a psychoanalytic theory coined by Sigmund Freud to exemplify the psychological sexual attraction of a boy towards his mother. According to Freud, this occurs in the third phallic stage of development (ages 3-6). The theory discloses the subconscious yearning for a boy to sexually possess his mother and kill his father (figuratively speaking). More relatively put; young men who are momma’s boys are considered to possess an Oedipus complex; not wanting to leave the nest; afraid that another man will consume his mother’s attention and neglect his own. However, there is a link between this psychoanalytic theory and men’s desires to mimic and admire the pastor in the pulpit.
It is one thing to admire and hold in high regard one’s spiritual leader; however, seeing men flock and yes; COCK BLOCK other men to acquire pastoral attention are downright disgraceful! Although; as aforementioned, the Oedipus complex is toward the opposite sex, church life reverses this conceptual psychoanalytic assertion with a redirect towards same sex gender. Now, no claims are being made here inferring homosexuality is created in this fervor for pastoral attention; however, the spiritual connectivity towards male leadership is sexual attraction in a sub-spiritual setting. Like the Oedipus complex—the desire for the boy to sexual possess his mother, congregation of men are engrossed with possessing their spiritual leader (the pastor) as a trinket; no one but me can be his favorite; some bitch-ass-ness for ya right there.
Looking at how the motivation of life is driven by succession—the need to mate; figuratively; the desire to live on, is ingrained in our daily lives. Take note of church communion: flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood. Utilizing wafers as a symbolic gesture of male ingestion of another males body. These symbolisms are caricatures of the sub-conscious mind’s desire to affiliate with the male gender in a sexual spiritual manner.
One cannot help being gay; just as one cannot help being heterosexual; however, it does beg to question: is the church creating daunting men to be exposed to the pastoral leadership in hopes of exercising latent tendencies amid a closed circle of church leaders? Could the church be a spiritual brothel for ministerial hidden emotions to bring together a brotherhood of insecure men; coercing them into future favors of indiscretion? I need not mention the likes of George Rekers, Ted Haggard, and Eddie Long to name a few; all anti-gay church leaders whose lifestyles revealed the contrary.

Robert – you’ve given me a LOT to think about here. Never viewed this fixation on sexuality from such a perspective. Thanks for sharing your insight.
Thank you Mindi. It involves my experience through the Christian church; in the years when my mind suffered from mental slavery. I noticed a lot of aspects that reveal themselves so clear to me now.
